The new year is a great time to quit smoking! One of the most effective ways to quit is to call the North Carolina quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. You can talk to a trained professional who will help you figure out what will be best for you. Starting Jan. 1, all callers who register for Quitline counseling will be offered free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). NRT will be in the form of a patch, lozenge or gum that releases a controlled dosage of nicotine that is reduced over time. The caller and Quitline coach will jointly determine which method is most effective for the individual. This is the first time the Quitine has been able to offer free medication assistance for those who want to quit tobacco. The time-limited offer will continue as long as funding remains available. Funds may run out, so take advantage of this offer now! |
